Katharine Story is a California-born luxury fashion designer whose atelier in Laguna Beach, California has welcomed clients by private appointment for over 30 years. Her signature is Rebellious Elegance: bold, hand-dyed textiles, silk slip dresses, flowing silhouettes and exceptional couture craftsmanship.
Her collections merge consciously sourced vintage fabrics with custom-designed textiles, hand-beading and artisanal techniques, including her signature Hutton stitch, reviving heritage crafts for the modern world. Every piece is made in the designer's atelier, and most are one of a kind.
From Laguna Beach to Miami, Houston, Round Top and across the Mediterranean (Ibiza, the South of France and Paris), Katharine brings her collections to life through international pop-ups, private events and appointments with clients who have followed her work for decades.
She has shown at Paris Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week, Art Basel Miami, Rome Fashion Week and the Ibiza Fashion Festival, and in 2024 served as Creative Director of the Laguna Beach Art Museum Sustainable Fashion Exhibition.
