Almost Paris

Almost Paris

There's a moment in every collaboration where an idea stops being a plan and becomes a thing with its own pulse. For House of Story Global, that moment arrived on a video call with Jamie, the designer behind Moirai Mohair, working from France — the only one of us who's actually seen the Marais space, if only through the windows.

We'd been circling a question: how do you take one room and make it feel like two distinct worlds, without a single nail in the wall? I didn't have the answer. I hadn't seen the space myself. Jamie, peering in from the street, had a start.

What he came back with, a few weeks later, was a loom. Not decoration — a living one. Designers and guests will be invited to add their own thread to it over the course of the show, each contribution a fragment in a piece that keeps evolving until the last night. Scraps welcome. Everyone's hands in it.

I didn't plan for this to be the centerpiece of our first launch. It found us. And that's exactly the point. House of Story Global was never meant to be one vision executed by many hands — it's meant to be many hands actually shaping the vision, in real time, in public. No single designer owns the loom. No single thread finishes it. By the last night, it will be a record of everyone who touched it, and that record is the truest thing we could possibly put in that room. If you want to know what this collective actually is, more than any press release could tell you — stand in front of that loom.

Behind the scenes, it's been a full sprint to get here. Production ran late this round — dye days, last-minute deliveries, the kind of week where everything lands two days before a flight instead of two weeks. Anyone who's built a small fashion brand knows this rhythm. It's not a complaint; it's the job. And it's exactly why having people around you who show up and make it happen anyway matters as much as any single collection does.

So this is where we are, with a week and a couple of days until we open as a collective for the first time: one loom, many threads, and a room in Paris that's about to become something none of us could have built alone.
